Jonathan Silver has been with Core Capital since its inception in 1999. Earlier in his career, Jonathan was Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Tiger Management, one of the country’s most successful hedge funds, where he was a member of the Executive Management Committee and led selected investments in the media and communications industries. Prior to joining Tiger, Jonathan was Executive Vice President of John Blair Communications, the nation's second-largest television marketing and sales organization, and Chief Operating Officer of Tucker Communications, a publisher of weekly newspapers. He began his business career at McKinsey & Company.
In the public sector, Jonathan served as senior policy advisor to both the Secretaries of Commerce and Interior and as an advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury during the first Clinton Administration. Separately, he chaired the President's Non-Profit Liaison Network. He has served as a senior advisor to United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and to the International Labor Conferences in Geneva.
His non-profit work has included board positions with the Federation of American Scientists, the Federal City Council, and the Washington Area Community Foundation, among others. He sits on the investment committee of the University of Maryland’s New Markets Growth Fund and has been an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
Jonathan is an honors graduate of Harvard University and holds a graduate degree in public policy from the Institute of Political Studies in Paris. In addition, he did doctoral course work at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva after receiving both Fulbright and Rotary graduate fellowships. He is married with two children and lives in Washington, DC.
