Will Dunbar has been with Core Capital since its inception in 1999. Prior to joining Core, Mr. Dunbar was founder and CEO of Pebble Hill Capital, an investment company providing early-stage funding to information technology and communications companies, including webMethods, a leading business integration software company that went public in 2000.
Previously, Will was a Portfolio Manager at Allied Capital, a publicly-traded private equity fund, and President of Allied Capital Corporation II, a $100 million fund. Under Will’s watch, Allied II invested in or acquired forty-six privately-held growth companies. He also served as Executive Vice President of Allied Capital Advisers, the management company for the Allied family of funds, and as Chief Investment Officer for Allied's private equity activities. Will began his investment career at Venture America, a venture capital firm specializing in early-stage, high technology investments, and was involved in the early stage funding of Discovery Communications and Digene.
He is a member of Young Presidents Organization and serves on numerous non-profit boards, including Venture Philanthropy Partners and Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington. Previously, he served on the Board of the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association (MAVA) and the National Association of Small Business Investment Companies (NASBIC), of which he was Chairman from 1994 to 1995.
Will holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. from Davidson College. He lives with his wife and three children in Alexandria, Virginia.
Board Involvement:Will represents Core on the Boards of Directors of Solstice Software, SwapDrive, Trinity Convergence, UpdateLogic, and 6th Sense Analytics.
